Mid-Summer Fest - Jaanipäev

June 22 - June 24, 2018

Big Bear Lake, California


The festivities will be at Buttercup Campground, this is a group campground with great open space to accommodate everyone, room for kids to play, close to hiking trails, large fire pit, barbecue and tables.  Whether you are coming for the day, a night or the weekend, celebrate Mid-Summer/Jaanipäev in a traditional setting of forest, lake and mountains.  All nationalities welcome, bring friends, a light jacket or sweater, as the night time temperatures can drop down in to the 40's at night, with day time temperatures in the mid 70's or so.   You can make your own meals at the camp, there also restaurants close by.

If anyone wants to volunteer to organize group hikes, bike rides, boating, volleyball games, team sports or anything else that would be fun, contact Robert.

The campground is walking distance from Snow Summit Ski Resort (ski lift is open) and you can enter from the resort side or follow THIS MAP

Noon – Anyone staying at the Buttercup campground is welcome to start arriving at noon.  Select a spot where you would like to set up camp.  Recommend arriving on Friday, expecting high volume of traffic coming up the mountain on Saturday due to the triathlon.

You are welcome to stop by and stay a while at Big Bear Mountain Cabin (43578 Yosemite) a small cabin where a few people are staying.



8:00 AM – Triathlon – Anyone interested in participating, register at http://bbtriathlon.com/

Noon – Beach Volleyball – will be held at the Boathouse Lakeside Tavern.  Located on the shores of the lake with great views and if you are in to spectator sports, there is a bar on the beach. 5:00 PM - ? - Games and Mid-Summer fire at Buttercup Campground.  Stop by anytime beginning at 5:00 PM.  The campground is located on a forest service road between Summit Blvd and Elm Street,   Due to limited parking, if you are staying overnight at the campground, please park along Summit Blvd and walk toward the resort and turn left on the forest road (last road before the fence) and follow it for a few minutes to the sign for the campground.  Bring a flashlight.

Anytime – Explore Big Bear Lake or do any of the activities listed above.
